Alexander combines his background in sports, psychology, and philosophy to bring a well-rounded and insightful approach to supporting clients.
I have been playing and coaching basketball for years and, in the process, developed a passion for psychology and philosophy. I have a Master of Science bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. I have completed one year of a master’s program at Cal State Fullerton. Working with Dr. Ken Ravizza (who was widely recognized as one of the best sports psychologists in the country) led me to change my coaching/counseling approach and enhanced my ability to support clients more effectively. I wanted to improve my communication, relate better to the people and clients I was working with, understand myself better, and adequately face personal issues and past traumatic events. I consequently developed an interest in mental health, emotional resilience, and intricate family dynamics that shape us as individuals.
1. Finding better balance in life while developing coping skills rooted in self-awareness and self-compassion to promote emotional intelligence and resilience. The success in balancing performance, emotional resiliency and quality of life is not about a specific or single perspective but from a variety of angles and different perspectives.
2. Performing detailed evaluations and sessions based on the client’s unique needs. Emphasis is on creating an empowering environment that involves collaboration and creative exchange of ideas on how to enhance performance while maintaining focus on mental health, emotional stability, and resilience.
Alexander provides tailored, trauma-informed therapy to support clients in overcoming mental health and substance-use challenges.
I assess and create individualized treatment plans for clients experiencing mental health and substance-use challenges. Grounded in a trauma-informed, non-pathologizing, and resilience-based approach, I provide individual, couples, and family therapy to address the emotional and relational patterns that contribute to addiction. When appropriate, I collaborate with multidisciplinary providers to ensure clients receive comprehensive, integrated care that supports recovery, stability, and long-term well-being.
Alexander integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with sports psychology to support clients struggling with anxiety, depression, and relationship distress. This approach helps clients better understand their emotional experiences, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change.
An Emotionally Focused approach is grounded in the belief that anxiety and depression often emerge from unmet emotional needs, disrupted connection, and patterns of self-protection. In therapy, we slow down to explore underlying emotions and relational patterns with compassion and curiosity. Clients learn to recognize reactive cycles, increase emotional awareness, and express their needs more clearly—fostering greater emotional safety, self-compassion, and connection with others.
By integrating sports psychology, therapy also becomes structured and goal-oriented. Clients clarify what they want to change, develop consistent habits, and align their actions with their values. Through an EFT lens, this structure remains emotionally attuned—addressing not just behaviors, but the feelings and relational experiences that drive anxiety and depression. Together, these approaches create a balanced path toward healing: reducing emotional distress, strengthening secure connection, and building practical skills for sustainable growth.
