I bring a unique and well-rounded perspective to my work by integrating my background in sports, psychology, and philosophy to support clients in meaningful and practical ways.
Having spent many years playing and coaching basketball, I developed a strong interest in the mental and emotional aspects of performance and personal growth. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and I also completed graduate studies at California State University, Fullerton. During that time, I had the opportunity to work with Ken Ravizza, widely recognized as one of the most influential sport psychologists in the country. That experience significantly shaped how I think about coaching, communication, and the role emotional awareness plays in both performance and relationships.
Through my work in athletics and mentorship, I became increasingly interested in the psychological and relational challenges people face. My own journey toward greater self-understanding deepened my interest in mental health, emotional resilience, and the complex family and relational dynamics that shape who we become.
Today, I integrate these experiences into my clinical work, helping individuals and couples better understand themselves, navigate challenges, and develop healthier, more connected ways of relating to others.
I provide tailored, trauma-informed therapy to support clients in overcoming mental health and substance-use challenges.
I assess and create individualized treatment plans for clients experiencing mental health and substance-use challenges. Grounded in a trauma-informed, non-pathologizing, and resilience-based approach, I provide individual, couples, and family therapy to address the emotional and relational patterns that contribute to addiction. When appropriate, I collaborate with multidisciplinary providers to ensure clients receive comprehensive, integrated care that supports recovery, stability, and long-term well-being.
I am integrating Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with sports psychology to support clients struggling with anxiety, depression, and relationship distress. This approach helps clients better understand their emotional experiences, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change.
An Emotionally Focused approach is grounded in the belief that anxiety and depression often emerge from unmet emotional needs, disrupted connection, and patterns of self-protection. In therapy, we slow down to explore underlying emotions and relational patterns with compassion and curiosity. Clients learn to recognize reactive cycles, increase emotional awareness, and express their needs more clearly—fostering greater emotional safety, self-compassion, and connection with others.
By integrating sports psychology, therapy also becomes structured and goal-oriented. Clients clarify what they want to change, develop consistent habits, and align their actions with their values. Through an EFT lens, this structure remains emotionally attuned—addressing not just behaviors, but the feelings and relational experiences that drive anxiety and depression. Together, these approaches create a balanced path toward healing: reducing emotional distress, strengthening secure connection, and building practical skills for sustainable growth.
